In 2026, the United States springs forward on Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 AM and falls back on Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 AM. The European Union and the United Kingdom spring forward later, on Sunday, March 29, and fall back earlier, on Sunday, October 25. Australia, in the Southern Hemisphere, runs opposite: clocks fell back on Sunday, April 5, 2026 and spring forward on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
| Region | Spring forward 2026 | Fall back 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Mar 8 | Nov 1 |
| EU / UK | Mar 29 | Oct 25 |
| Australia (AEDT) | Oct 4 | Apr 5 |
| New Zealand | Sep 27 | Apr 5 |
Roughly 70 countries observe some form of daylight saving time. Most of Asia, Africa, and the equatorial regions do not. Because regions transition on different dates, recurring meetings between, say, the US and Europe drift by an hour during the three-week gap each March and the one-week gap each autumn.
Reviewed for 2026. Dates based on the IANA time zone database. Confirm exact Southern Hemisphere dates against current tzdata before relying on them.
